From Fukumitsuya Sake Brewery founded in 1625, "Kagatobi" was named after the in-house firefighters who were tough, powerful, and highly skilled. Using a traditional yamahai brewing method which uses natural lactic acid for fermentation, "Kagatobi Super Dry" takes after the taste of typical yamahai sake. Its acidity consists of complex flavors that combine with the full body for a clean finish.

Umami-rich, dried seafood pairs well with yamahai sake. For sake ware, we recommend cups or tools that can be for warmed or chilled sake.

Fukumitsuya was founded in 1625 near Mount Haku. The rainfall on these mountains soaks into the ground and flows into an underground spring that is used by Fukumitsuya in brewing. The brewers use this water in combination with just rice and microorganisms to produce only junmai sake, out of respect for the origins of s...
This is extremely dry and strong sake. Although Tippsy's suggested temperature included "cold," the bottle says it should be served either at room temperature or warm.
This lives up to it's super dry name. I wanted to try something on the opposite side of the spectrum and this super dry, umami-strong sake fit the bill. I don't think I care for my sake this dry and so full-bodied. I like the smoother, floral varieties but I think this is a great choice for some who like this type of sake,
Wow the name does not lie! Quite the kick, great with a burger.
Full body umami! Paired well with grilled food and meat!
I loved this goes well with a steak or a burger etc has a nice kick to it hard. But nice good if you love a kick and good taste to it and for me its a must with a burger or BQQ great times
Perfect flavor combination
This does not disappoint as a dry sake. It pairs very well with more delicately-flavored foods since it does not compete for attention on your palate.
Warming, especially when it's cold
Interesting and tasty when served chilled, with walnuts and umami on the front, a creaminess on the tongue, and a bit of alcohol on the finish. Matches well with beef (as suggested on the card). I’d buy this again, as well as consider visiting the brewery on my next trip to Japan!
This is an absolutely stellar sake if you are looking for rich umami and a super-dry finish. While there is a slight flavor of alcohol on the entrance, the umami finish with notes of shitake and walnuts lingers in the mouth for a very long time. It would be great with grilled foods or other richer flavors. Before we tried this sake we weren't entirely sure about the more dry varieties, and our preference leaned toward the sweeter. This bottle showed us what great dry sake is all about and we're looking forward to trying even more!
